由日本管打．吹奏樂協會主辦的 The Japan Wind Orchestra and Ensemble Competition ，從 1995 年開始舉行，比賽分國小、國中及高中組進行。參加比賽時，國小組不限人數，國中及高中組則按人數分成 A（人數為 10 至 35 人）、 B（人數為 36 人以上）兩組進行。

這個比賽與一般比賽的差別，主要在由主辦單位透過審核制挑選參賽隊伍。此外，比賽不設置指定曲，由各隊在限時八分鐘內自由演奏。

日本 2009 年 The Japan Wind Orchestra and Ensemble Competition 高中組精選集，收錄十一支優秀隊伍實況演出，適合各校樂團選購，作為影音教材。
