歐洲銅管樂團大賽 ( The European Brass Band Championships, EBBC )，是歐洲最高水準的銅管樂團大賽，於每年四月的最後一個星期六或五月的第一個星期六舉行。自 1978 年至 2003 年為止，已舉辦了 26 屆。著名的英國黑磨石銅管樂團 ( Black Dyke Mills Band )，是目前囊獲最多屆冠軍的樂團，一共曾獲十屆冠軍。而英國的 Yorkshire Building Society Band 近年來異軍突起，自 1999 年以來已連續贏得五屆冠軍，目前共獲七屆冠軍，其次數緊追在黑磨坊銅管樂團之後。

2003 年的歐洲銅管樂團大賽在挪威的葛利格哈倫 ( Grieghallen ) 與貝爾根 ( Bergen ) 兩地舉行。這已是該地第三度主辦此國際大賽。2004 年的大賽將於英國蘇格蘭的格拉斯哥 ( Glasgow ) 舉行。

這張由英國 SP & S 公司於 2003 年發行的雙 DVD 套裝中，除了收錄了指定曲第一名、自選曲前三名隊伍的演出實況外，另收錄多位知名器樂獨奏家與各隊合作的錄音。其中特別推薦由知名上低音號獨奏家 David Childs 所演奏的「威尼斯狂歡節」( The Carnival of Venice ) ， Childs 以他精湛的技巧與優異的音樂性征服了這首考驗各種演奏技巧的名曲。低音號獨奏家 Oystein Baadsvik 在電影「教會」( The Mission ) 選曲 Gabriel's Oboe 與他自己創作的 Fnugg 兩曲中，則分別展現了獨奏家的優美音色與音樂性，以及精湛的雙音與花舌等技巧。

此外，片中收錄的挪威作曲家葛利格 ( E. Grieg ) 霍爾堡組曲 ( Holberg Suite ) 中的前奏曲 ( Prelude )、法國名作曲家白遼士 ( H. Berlioz ) 的「海盜序曲」( Le Corsir ) 等銅管樂改編版，也都是難得一見的錄音文獻，是銅管音樂的愛好者不可錯過的珍藏。
