由美國管樂大師 Eugene Migliaro Corporon 主導發行的 Composer's Collection 系列 CD ，完整收錄管樂發展史上各作曲家的作品，針對其作品風格、樂曲內容皆有完整的介紹，許多市面上很少錄音的樂曲皆有收錄，是一套完整而全面的管樂錄音資料。

佛漢威廉士 ( Ralph Vaughan Williams, 1872 - 1958 ) ，英國作曲家， 1872 年出生於英格蘭科茲窩德 ( Cotswold ) 附近的一個小村莊 Down Ampney 。自幼學習鋼琴及小提琴， 1878 年，完成生平首部創作「 The Robin's Nest 」。

1890 年，卡爾特修道院 ( Charterhouse School ) 畢業後，佛漢威廉士進入皇家音樂院 ( Royal College of Music ) 追隨 Stanford 及 Hubert Parry 學習作曲、 Parratt 學習管風琴演奏，於此他遇見了一生的摯友，霍爾斯特 ( Gustav Holst ) 。

佛漢威廉士曾分別於 1897 年及 1908 年前往德國柏林向布魯赫 ( Max Bruch ) 學習作曲及法國巴黎追隨拉威爾 ( Maurice Ravel ) 學習管弦樂法。

1919 年，佛漢威廉士接任皇家音樂院作曲教授，直到 1939 年退休。

1958 年 8 月 26 日，佛漢威廉士於自宅中過世，享年 87 歲。

佛漢威廉士非常喜愛英國民謠，於廿世紀初期開始進行田野調查，採集各地區之民謠，並將其融入創作之中，使得其作品風格獨樹一幟。

佛漢威廉士著名作品包括了「 Norfolk Rhapsody 」、「 English Folk Songs Suite 」、「 Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis 」、「 Fantasia on Greensleeves 」，另外還有九首交響曲、五部歌劇，以及低音號與雙鋼琴協奏曲等。

這套由 GIA Music 於 2006 年發行的 Ralph Vaughan Williams 作品集，除了收錄「 English Folk Song Suite 」、「 Flourish for Wind Band 」、「 Toccata Marziale 」、「 Sea Songs 」等經典原創作品外，也收錄「 The Lark Ascending 」、「 Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus 」等名作之管樂改編版本，是目前市售管樂錄音中，最為完整的佛漢威廉士作品集。
