這套由 Douglas Bostock 主導，以祖國英國管樂作品為主的新系列錄音「 The Best of British 」，首張專輯中共收錄艾爾加第一號及第四號「威風凜凜進行曲」、葛人傑「林肯郡花束」、佛漢威廉斯 1939 年 4 月為倫敦國民音樂節 ( Festival of Music for the People ) 開幕所創作的「 Flourish for Wind Band 」等五位作曲家的七部作品。

其中，霍爾斯特於第一次世界大戰期間受日本舞蹈家伊藤道郎 ( Michio Ito ) 委託創作的「 Japanese Suite 」，是目前管樂錄音文獻中並不多見的曲目。

專輯內頁曲目解說由專研英國音樂學者劉易斯 ( Lewis Foreman ) 撰寫，資料豐富，極具收藏價值。
